T5 - The Last Dance
Idea
The Video will be set after Prom/Party, The start of the video begins outside a building and a guy walks past the camera only showing his feet as he enters the building, the door closes and turns black. The video then fades in to an unfocused disco ball where the first text fades in which says 'T5' in 3D Text, the shot then changes to a side view of the room with balloons on the floor with a dolly shot moving across the floor, a shot of the stage is then presented slowly zooming in where the final text fades in which says 'The Last Dance' - TEXT FADES IN WITH A SMOKY BLEND - The Hall Doors open and the guy runs in to an empty room covered in sweat looking distressed, he grabs a chair and sits down on the stage and picks up the acoustic guitar and starts playing it. these shots of him playing the guitar are blended with the footage of the Prom Band playing on the stage. At the end of the first verse the guy falls asleep on the stage with a day dream transition to emphasise the fact we will see whats in his dream. The shots change to the band performing the song on the stage during the chorus with hand held shots moving around the band and shots looking down the guitar/bass necks. The guy then wakes up to find himself still in the room the camera then pans to see a girl in the middle of the room, the guy gets up and walks over to her which by the end of the chorus he mimes the words 'can i have this dance'. The guy and the girl walk out the building which then changes back to the shots of the band performing. During the second verse the two characters are walking through a flowery are within a park, walking very slowly, The girl looks scared so the guy holds her hand - CLOSE UP SHOT OF THE HANDS - The girl then turns and smiles at him. During the second chorus the band are again seen on the stage performing the song with the characters walking holding hands in a park. The characters then walk off and stand at the top of a hill outside a castle to create a feeling of being in a fantasy. At the start of the bridge we see a tear run down the girls face then a shot of the girls eyes are seen, the girl begins to fade away, she then runs down the hill away from the guy but he chases after onto a bridge, a shot of the girl is seen with her arm out trying to reach for the guys hand but she disappears. the guy runs up to the girl to try and get hold of her hand but she disappears and a point of view shot is seen of the guy who accidentally slips and falls over the edge of the bridge, the shot of the guy falling off the bridge blends with the shot of the guy waking up from his dream back in the hall on the stage, at the end of the song the guy gets up and walks out of the building, he is walking down the street when he accidentally bumps past a girl, the girl looks at him and its the girl he has been dreaming of, the girl then smiles and walks off, a shot of the guy looking at her as she walks off is seen but then it fades out which creates suspicion to whether the guy goes after her or walks away.
Performance/Narrative
There isnt any speech in the video accept sound effects such as the sound of cars driving past at the start of the video and malicious sounds such as doors closing, footsteps, sound of acoustic guitar being picked up etc... However the Performance side of my video is very direct, meaning that there will be many parts of the video which will catch your eye. The performance in the video is mainly set around the band. The other parts of the video is acted by two characters which is the main narrative of the video. this is the most important part of my music video as the video needs to create meaning.
Location
The video is going to be film in different locations around Tamworth. I am planning on using the stage at QEMS High School as it is very spacious and has many places to put cameras to film the band performing the song. The narrative side to the music video is going to be filmed inside the High School at the start of the video but during the second verse the characters are going to be filmed in a floral area which looks like a corridor but full of plants and flowers to help connote the feeling of being in a fantasy/dream. in this scene cameras are going to be following the characters using a dolly/tripod on wheels. in the bridge the scene is going to change at a shot outside Tamworth Castle at sunset (dark yet still light), the scene will stay in that are however the camera will move to the bottom of the hill outside the Castle on the bridge. Other places such as outside QEMS in the street will be shot and also outside Tamworth Assembly Rooms will be used in my music video.
Props
In the video certain props are going to be used in different scenes. At the start of the video the guy runs into the building and picks up an acoustic guitar which is placed on the stage. The Acoustic Guitar has the bands logo engraved onto the guitar - ROMAN NUMERAL FOR NUMBER 5 'V' - This helps to brand the Band in the video, A chair is also used in that scene. Other props such as a note book and balloons are also used.
Equipment
In order to film the music video equipment will be used thoroughly including cameras, tripods, stands, lights and microphones. to film my music video i will be mainly using two DSLR cameras with two GoPro's, a Sony Compact Camera and possibly use two of the college cameras. In order to get the best sound out of my music video i will be using cardioid microphones to capture any sound effects such as feet walking, door movements, sound of the character (sound of them breathing if they are nervous/out of breath). in order to record these sounds i will be using two AKGc100s microphones with an audio interface and cubase pro 8 on my Mac Book Pro.
Instruments
In the music video, instruments are very important as without them i wouldnt be able to record the band performing. I will be using a Squire Stratocaster Custom, the guitar has a scratch plate with the roman numeral for 5 'V' on it in a modern Eddie Van Halen style. I will also be using an Epiphone 2015 Thunderbird Bass Guitar. The Drum kit we will be using will be provided by the College however extra items of the drum kit such as Cymbals will be provided by the band. we will be using 3 Shure SM58 Microphones with 3 Mic Stands, one for the Lead Singer/Guitarist, Bassist/Vocalist and Drummer/Vocalist. In the video i will also be providing a Baby Taylor Acoustic Guitar with the band logo engraved onto it.
Costume
In the video Costumes must be used to add more depth to the video. The band will be wearing Black Jeans with Shirts and smart trainers (casual yet smart). The characters however will be wearing very smart clothing. The guy will be wearing a suit with a black tie and black or brown shoes and the female character will be wearing a white dress/skirt to connotate the fact she's part of the guys dream to emphasise the feeling of purity in her.
