Diary Day 13 (4th January) - CD Sleeve + Back

Today i added the final touches to the CD Sleeve including the back and Spine. Some development has been added to the front cover including the Artist Name and Album Title. However the the back of the Sleeve is the most developed section.

Firstly on the Front Cover I developed the filtering to make it more dominant and appealing to the purchaser of the Album. I added the Band Name in a Modern Serif font on the bottom of the Logo, I also added the Album Title in the centre of the Band Logo. I changed the colour of the font to a golden yellow to develop the colour filters effect on the Purchaser of the Album, This also relates to the Magazine Poster as Golden text is used on the poster to advertise the Songs and Album.

On the spine of the cover i used a Black and Red Colour Gradient effect to blend the Red and Black together. I also added the Band Logo at the bottom of the spine and also added the Band Name above it. In the centre of the Spine, i added the Album Title using the white text the same as the Band Logo as it helps it to stand out above all else in the centre. At the top of the Spine i added the Record Labels logo, in this case i used Virgin Records. I did this as many Pop/Rock Bands are signed to Virgin Records such as The Vamps.

On the back of the sleeve i decided to focus more on quality rather than quantity. The back cover is a nice gritty black image of a drum kit used in the Music Video for 'The Last Dance'. To the left of the back cover we can see a list of songs used on the Album, there are 12 songs featured on the Album which are original songs written by Ben Woodward 'Me'. The Band logo is featured underneath the song list to help promote the Band further. On the bottom left of my back cover, we can see a Compact Disc Digital Audio logo placed to help promote other companies. also the back cover is larger than the front as a compact disc case has a larger back compared to the front as the spine is normally placed next to the front cover of the CD Case. in the centre of the back cover at the bottom we can see the copyright information in small black font next to the Record Company Logo. A Virgin Records logo is placed at the bottom next to the copyright information to promote the company used by the band. Finally a barcode is placed at the bottom right of the back cover to allow a customer to purchase the album in a shop.

Diary Day 12 (28th December) - Filming Verse 2, Chorus, Bridge and Ending Chorus

Today i filmed the final shots for the Music Video, due to the events involving Thomas and Georgia i
had to change Georgia's character throughout the second verse and onward. I decided to use Maisie Goodman as a new love interest for Thomas's Character. At 2pm Maisie and I left Landau Forte Sixth Form to head into the town centre to meet Thomas to get ready for filming. We went straight to the first location which was down a footpath next to a bowling alley in the Town Centre. Thomas is walking down a footpath when he comes across a girl who walks past him, Thomas then turns around to get a seconds glance at the female character, he then walk off whilst thinking what life could be like if he was with that girl in a relationship.

After filming at the first location we then moved a few yards down the street to a floral area of the
park which connotes a perfect scene for a romantic date. The Characters are seen walking down the floral path whilst talking to each other. The costume changes in this scene as before we saw the characters wearing jackets in a glum scene, now the characters are wearing very formal attire. Thomas is wearing the same suit as we saw in the first verse/chorus of the Music Video to show the audience that he is still dreaming as costume still hasn't changed. As Maisie is the new female love interest she is wearing similar attire compared to georgia at the start of the video as i wanted each girl to be similar but different in their own way as the male character is thinking about what his dream girl could look like.

In this scene we see Maisie and tom walk down the path slowly then he stops and looks into her
eyes, he reaches out for her hand and continues to look at her as he is showing her how she is safe in his arms and how he wouldn't let anything happen to the girl. Shots used in this scene are very similar compared to the dream sequence seen at the first chorus of the song as again Thomas the male character walks up to the girl, looks into her eyes, takes her hand and walks off with her whilst holding hands with her. I did this again in this scene to show how even though each girl is different he still wants the same thing from a girl in a relationship.

Thomas and Maisie then walk off leading back into the performance aspect of the Music Video. The next scene was shot at a Band Stand in the town centre. The two characters walk to the top of the hill where the Band Stand is placed, he then stops and holds his hand out again to signify him asking the girl to be his girlfriend but as she takes his hand, her hand starts to fade away. This signifies the struggle the male character has of trying to find the girl of his dreams and how difficult his life has been trying to find 'The Perfect Girl'. After Maisie fades away, Thomas then runs after to emphasise the fact that even if she disappears then he will still be there trying to support her and look after her.

Thomas then finds Maisie standing in the middle of a Bridge on top of a river stream, Thomas runs up to the girl but the closer he got the faster she disappears to connote the struggle of trying to find the perfect girl of the characters dreams. Thomas then finds himself standing in the middle of the bridge. After looking around he finally sees Maisie standing by the wall of the bridge, Thomas then runs up to her but trips and falls over the side of the bridge which takes us back to the first scene where Thomas wakes up from his dream. In this scene it is different compared to the other scenes used in the Music Video. In the
scenes used leading up to the ending scene in the Music Video we can see that the scenarios used are represented as a perfect dream/perfect date. However as reality takes over in his dream the continuity changes from being from a perfect dream to a dangerous nightmare which is represented with the use of the road work equipment used on the walls of the bridge.

As filming has been completed the next step would be to finish editing and to render a final cut for the official upload of the Music Video. once that has completed i will need to start working on completing the Print Products and Evaluation.

Diary Day 11 (12th December) - Music Mix

The Music in my Music Video is an original song which has been written by Ben Woodward (Me), The Song was recorded on Cubase 7 which is a Music Recording Software used at the Sixth-form for Music and Music Technology Students. A total of 24 Tracks were used in the raw version however with a lot of editing i have created a balanced recording at professional quality. Just like in the editing process in Premiere Pro, i must take the raw audio and edit the track to make it sound more rich and bright, this is done by adding certain effects such as Compression, EQ, a Limiter, Manipulation - Chorus, Phaser etc. As an example here is a screenshot of the software in action.

In the Image above we can see many tracks (This Recording is a MIDI Project for Music Technology) on the Left hand side we can see a number of multi-colored tracks which is each audio sample used in the recording. In the centre of the software we can see a number of Multi-colored tracks/samples which are colour coded to respond to each coloured track.

In the Cubase File of The Last Dance it has taken 3 months to create a clean and professional recording with a lot of editing and dynamic improvement. The full song is featured in the music video and is available to listen too on soundcloud.

The next step is to embed the audio WAV. file into Premiere Pro and continue editing.

Diary Day 10 (17th November) - Magazine Poster (Version 2)

Today i finished the 2nd Version of the Magazine Poster for the CD Advertisement. As you can see from the image below a lot of work has been done to the poster to advertise the Band 'T5' and the Album.

As you can see many subtle filters and text has been added to make it look more like a realistic Advertisement. Compared to the first version i have added Red and Blue combined filter which ive plastered over the top of the Pop Art Images of the Band, I've also made the Logo more bold to make the reader/audience know that this logo is the Bands Symbol. I used Da.Font to find an alternative looking Text which fits with the Punk/Pop Theme. The Text is combined with 3 different colours (Red, Gold and Black) These colours were influenced by the Jessie J album i researched before designing the Poster. Each part of the Text is layered 3 times. On the top layer we can see the main colour (Red or Gold) however underneath the main text, two black versions of the text were added and moved about 2mm to the left and right of the text to help the text stand out above the dark background so that the continuity effect is perfect and visible. On the top left of the poster we can see a Company advertisement which is what Apple use to help promote 'iTunes'. Finally to the right we can see the price of the album in which the viewer can automatically know how much the Album will cost.
The next step for the poster is to show the reader/audience where they can buy the Album besides iTunes. I will conduct some audience feedback to decide where to go next in terms of making the Poster top mark quality.

Diary Day 9 - (10th November) Production Update

Today i started to edit more of my Music Video to create a first cut of the story. Over the past few weeks i have encountered a problem filming the Narrative of the video. The two characters i used for the video at the start no longer want to take part due to exams, this was a huge issue for me as filming needed to be complete in order to create a first raw cut. In most ways this has helped me stay clear from making my music video a cliche as now i will add two scenarios to my story from two characters perspectives. The first scenario seen at the start of the video is about a guy who cant find love and is very upset when thinking about his life. The Second is the male character walking through a park when he walks past a girl who he thinks about, He starts day dreaming about taking the girl on a romantic date and how he'd promise her that he'd be there for her if he was her boyfriend. In the video we will see the guy walk through a Park by himself thinking about his life, Later on we will see the girl start to fade away which connotates the guys emotions and how hard he would fight to make a girl happy, however the guy chases after her which shows he would do anything to make sure they were safe and cared for. The guy will see her disappear on a bridge in which he will slip and fall over the side of the bridge, a spiral effect will be seen and we will be taken back to the scene which is seen at the very start of the music video running into the theatre where the Band T5 were playing in which that scene at the end will end the Narrative. In the second scenario i will be using Thomas Whitehead as the main character and Maisie Goodman as the love interest. Maisie will also be wearing a white dress with blue shoes, By using two female love interests will stay clear from making the video a cliché as the two girls seen connotates how he doesn't know what his perfect girlfriend would look like.

In terms of editing im now at the stage where by the footage which has already been filmed will be edited more by adding filters, effects, transitions and possibly text to develop the look of my video. However in terms of Filming, I must make sure Thomas is wearing the same suit seen at the start of the video and make sure Maisie develops the female love interest by changing the look of the female character seen in the start. This is done to show how the main character 'Thomas' is thinking about what his ideal girlfriend could look like.

Diary Day 8 (3rd November) - CD Cover (Front)

Over the past few weeks i have been working on the Magazine Poster for T5, Today however i started to work on the CD Cover for the Band, The Cover is similar to the Poster keeping to the Pop Art Theme however it is variated differently compared to the poster. I have equilly sized each band member to fit each side of the cover while placing the band logo in the centre with a white glow around it to make the black boarder stand out more. The cover is darker than the poster to variate the style to make each band member stand out from the black. In the centre of the Logo the title of the Album is presented in a golden finish. 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' is the name of the album which was influenced by one of the songs i wrote. each section identifies each member of the band '3 words for 3 members'. The white glow around the Band logo represents the stage lights shining onto the band

The Pictures used in the CD Sleeve and Poster were taken at a concert we performed at back in October called Q-Fest. This was very useful as we performed on the stage where the performance part of the video was shot. The style of the cover was influenced by Green Day's Uno, Dos, Tres album with their pop art cover which caught my attention after realising i could portray the style in photoshop.

To edit the cover i used Photoshop as i am most familiar with the adobe programmes. Photoshop was my go to software to create the cover as their are many professional plug-ins and functions i could use to create a professional CD Sleeve. The Texture of the cover at the moment is very professional looking with a lot of layers and filters used to create subtle effects such as the glow around the band logo and the threshold effect used on the images of the band to create the pop art effect.

The next step would be to add the back and divider too the front cover once they have been complete.

Diary Day 7 (Tuesday 20th October) - Magazine Poster

Today in Media i started to work on a basic poster for my Magazine Article. The main aim was to make a poster of the band which has the logo in the centre of the page. This poster took me 2 Hours to make on Adobe Photoshop

These pictures were taken at a recent Gig the Band did over at QEMS for Q-Fest Anti Bullying Festival (Same Stage where we filmed the Start and End of the Music Video. The main idea i originally wanted was like a classic Punk Pop Poster with the Band on a Roller coaster
or something like an old Busted Poster, standing infront of a wall with the band logo infront of us but instead i wanted the poster to be similar to a Pop Art poster, influenced by the likes of Green Day 'Uno, Dos, Tres Album', Marlin Monroe - Andy Warhol and John Lennon 'Imagine Poster'. I really liked the Pop Art theme which really fit well with our Music Theme (Pop, Rock, Punk). The Logo was Designed by myself 'Ben Woodward' and Haydyn Briggs 'T5 Bassist/Vocalist'. I designed the Proper logo on Photoshop which makes it look really professional.

This is the First Version of the poster as with feedback i will add, change or develop certain aspects of the poster to make it look more professional by adding Text, A Price, Certain Music Retailers and possibly more colour.

The next stage would be to develop the look to try and make it look similar in comparison to the Album Cover/Back, to do this i would need too add more filters and change some of the colour correction to make it look less bold and more stylistic.

Mr Judge Feedback

Ben, The presentation of your blog is good, bordering on proficient. Unfortunately you are still missing critical pieces that need to be uploaded to be considered a firm L2/L3:

  • Storyboard and Production Schedule is missing
  • Some Textual analysis still needed such as Bad Romance
  • Design/drafts of CD covers and album advert design
Lets get these posts completed as soon as possible.

Diary Day 6 (Wednesday 14th October 2015) - Filming Day 2

Today we filmed the Dream Sequence at QEMS High School at 12.30pm over in the Main Hall/Stage. Thomas, Georgia and Myself arrived at QEMS at 12pm and met Matt Johnson (Lighting) to get everything set up for filming. When we arrived at the Hall we encountered a problem, as we came to QEMS during the holiday it appeared that the cleaners were cleaning the Hall the same time we wanted to film, This became a problem for us as we only had a certain amount of time to film. While we waited for the cleaners to finish in the Hall we thought it would be a good idea to set up the lighting and make sure the timing of the light movement was perfect (when Myself and Matt designed the lighting on the stage Thomas and Georgia weren't present so we had to guess how tall they were and where they would be in order to fit perfectly in the spotlights). Once everything was perfect, we started to film at 12.37pm. We filmed the whole sequence in 38 minutes, capturing different shots multiple times in order to achieve the best look for my video. In the editing process i was able to shorten each clip so that it fits in time with each bar (4 Beats in a Bar) this makes the video look more professional and allows the video to develop certain areas by extending it to two bars long (8 Beats in a Bar).

(Add image/Video of Editing)

When Editing this sequence i added a nice colour filter to make it feel more like a dream by adding a blue colour filter with added Sharpness and contrast. The Scene differs from the beginning because the filters differentiate to try and create a contrasting scene change. The video itself explains the situation the character is in. He wakes up to find a girl standing in the centre of the Hall and he approaches her and asks her 'Can i have this Dance - Will you date me'. The Girl in the scene is the girl of his dreams, Wearing a White dress and shoes. I wanted her to wear white to show how pure she is and how she's part of her dream.

In my next shoot i will be filming the second part of the dream sequence in Tamworth Castle Grounds where the character will slowly fade away at the end which ends the dream where by the character will wake up to find it was all just a dream. For this both characters will have to wear the same costume used in the hall, however the girl will have to also bring a spare change of clothes as at the end of the video the male character will be walking home and bump into a girl in the street, that girl is the one he saw in his dream but we dont know if he goes after her of walks away as it cuts to black at the end. for this shoot i will need my Tripod, DSLR Camera and possibly my GoPro with my Mono-stick.

Target Audience - T5 The Last Dance

After researching many Bands and Artists in the music industry i have found that most Pop Bands have  a Target Audience which focuses on age and gender. For example, The Vamps are a Pop Group who have been together since 2012. Their Target audience is mostly Female within the age of 12+. This also applies to bands such as McFly, The Wanted, One Direction and more artists within the music industry such as Justin Bieber.

For my music video, the Band seen in the video 'T5' would have a target audience of mostly Female within the age of 14+, this is relatable to bands such as Lawson, The Script, Busted and many more bands in the music industry. The reason why the band would attract more of a female audience is because the music the band plays is more emotive and focuses on relationships i.e Break Ups. Another reason for the band too attract more of a female audience is because of the bands appearance (A Group of Teenagers, playing music which they love).

Diary Day 5 (Thursday 8th October 2015) - Posters

Today i have been researching different Band/Artist posters which help to promote an album. Each poster i look at will vary between different styles of Music such as Punk, Pop and Rock

1) Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown Poster (Punk)
This poster is based around the Album Cover, displaying a brick wall with graffiti sprayed on it with two people kissing, The Green Day Logo is in big, bold text which looks like paint dripping. The other text presented is similar however its not bold and in different colours. The poster in itself is very colourful and decorative which is what i aim to look for on my poster. This poster makes me think about what i'd like to aim for when designing my poster. do i want the band to be presented on the main cover or do i want to be creative and use my two characters in my Music Video to create a sense of a story being told within the Album. I need to think about the colours im going to use and why id chose them. The text at the bottom gives a very short intel into what songs are on the album, with company credits presented at the bottom.

2) Slash - World on Fire Poster (Rock)
This poster is very Creative and Arty. The poster shows a canvas of melted toys and figurines creative a 'World on Fire' scene. The artwork used was taken from a piece made by Ron English who is a PopArt Artist who made the toy canvas for the Album Cover. The text is very bold yet plain like Ariel font, the text is plain yet affective because there are loads of colours used in the poster in which it makes it stand out however because the text is white with a black shadow around it, it makes it stand out above everything else. The poster uses some company text and some logos to tell the audience where they can get the Album. HMV is a huge company which specialises in Music and Film, this is one of the main companies which specialise in Music such as ITunes, Spotify and Amazon Music, the only difference is HMV is a store instead of an online service.

3) Jessie J - Who You Are Poster (Pop)
This poster is very basic due to the fact it displays the album cover itself and the rest is in Black, this blends well with the contrast of the poster as its mainly Black, Gold and White colour based. The Songs are presented in white and the subtitles are presented in a Gold/Yellow colour. We can see some more company credits just like the Slash Poster which brands different companies however this is different compared to the Slash poster because it doesn't advertise the music company in which the audience can go there and purchase it. The poster displays the Lava Logo (Recording Company) and Universal Republic (Record Label). The Font used in the Logo 'Jessie J' is very powerful on the page which stands out on the black behind it. She is looking very powerful and which she's looking at the camera which looks like she's looking into the readers eyes.

Diary Day 4 (Tuesday 6th October 2015) - Album Cover

Today i started to work on the Album Cover and Digipak, I mainly started to research individual Album Covers looking at different Bands and Artists in different areas of music such as Punk, Rock and Pop.

1) Green Day - American Idiot (Punk)
This is the first Album cover to come to mind when i think of Punk, Green Day have been influential for so many Artists in the industry in todays age, they have influenced the likes of 5 Seconds of
Summer, Bowling for Soup, You Me at Six and many more. The Artwork used on the album is so iconic its familiar to any Punk, Pop Rocker in the world. The Album is very basic but very meaning-ful at the same time. American Idiot is an album in which each song talks about the Idiot Nation of the United States of America, with each song referring to a certain character. The Album tells a story of democracy, Love and War within Suburban America. The Heart like a Hand Grenade shows the battle between Love and War in itself with the words American Idiot stained in distorted red text like the blood of a Nation.

2) McFly - Radio:ACTIVE (Pop)
This Album cover wasn't the first one to come to mind when i think of Pop, However the design of the cover is very basic for a Platinum selling Band. The Album shows 9 TV Screens, 4 with each individual member of McFly in each screen, the other 5 Screens show drawings of mouths which look like they are crying out for help. Radioactive refers to a broken down world in modern day society, The McFly Logo is boldly presented in the centre of the cover in Green Glowing Text like some Nuclear Chemical. There are little bits in the cover which add more detail to the album such as the little text in the top right hand side of the TV Monitors which read 'Radio: Active, 20/09/08, 20:15' This is subtle because the Monitors display the date in which the Album was released in this case '20th September 2008'.

3) 5 Seconds of Summer - Self Titled Debut Album (Punk Pop)
This is one of the newest Album covers in my collection which shows the 4 members of 5 Seconds of Summer standing infront of a white background with a spray painted X covering the Band like tape. The Band's Logo is quite iconic as it shows the Bands name in a sticker text, these stickers are the type you'd see on the side of a folder draw at work or on a lunch box. We can clearly see the Band's Symbol presented underneath the name which shows a tally reading '5'. This is very basic for any Band to do yet its very effective as this helps not only to brand the Artist but to also helps to sell merchandise, the Album Cover can be used on Posters, Lunch Boxes, School Bags and many more.

With the research i have gathered i now have more of an insight into what id like to have on my Album Cover for my Band T5. I now need to look at different Digipak's to decide on what id like to have presented in the booklet besides Lyrics and Pictures.

Diary Day 3 (Monday 5th October 2015) - Editing Structure

Today i started to work on the structure of my edit, In the Media Lesson on Thursday 1st October 2015 once i finished filming the Performance I decided to start working on the structure of the Performance, I used my Storyboard to help correspond each clip to each section on the storyboard. Due to no narrative being filmed by then i wasn't able to work on editing anything else besides clip lengths, colour correction and Cinemascope effects. Today is now Monday and using the 4 days I've had since our last Media Lesson i have completed the structure of the Performance and the Beginning of the Narrative and the Ending. Due to the amount of clips used (Total of 36 clips) it made it harder to edit the main sequence, so I decided to merge each Frame in on Video Timeline and Labeled each Timeline with the section of the Music Video (E.G - Performance, Narrative Beginning/End...)

as you can see from the screenshot to the right, I have labeled each Video Bar coresponding to a certain section in the Music Video. Because i had finished working on the Main Structure of the Performance and part of the Narrative I decided to use the information I gathered on Thursdays Session and put it to good use. To create a more detailed Music Video i have added Cinemascope Bars to give it a more Cinematic feel, I've also imbedded the VEVO logo in the bottom right hand corner of the frame. In the two clips presented on the top of the screen you can clearly see on the left hand side the original raw footage and on the right hand side you see the current footage used in the timeline, I have used some Colour Correction to darken the contrast and boost some of the brightness to help make the scene look more detailed and enhanced. I've also used some an effect called Sharpen which is quite self explanatory, This has made my output look more detailed by sharpening the clips to make it more focused.

In the next Media Lesson i plan to continue editing certain clips and experiment with lighting to create a balanced lighting in the Music Video and i also plan to work more on Posters and Print Text for the Music Video before i film on Friday 9th October 2015 - The Dream Sequence

Diary Day 2 (Friday 2nd October 2015) - Day 2 of Filming 'Narrative'

Today at 8.35, Myself and Thomas Whitehead went over to QEMS back to the set to start filming the Introduction to the narrative and the Ending. I was hoping to film the Dream Sequence in the 2 hour shoot i had planned however Georgia my second Actress got taken ill meaning this needed to be filmed another day where by Thomas and Georgia are both looking Fit and Healthy. I told Thomas to
wear his standard Landau Forte Suit as i wanted to give the feeling like he's running to a formal gathering such as a Party or Prom. He decided to wear his purple tie which connotates the goofy emotion this character has, The Character is a hopeless romantic who's never found a place in his heart for the right girl to come along and change his life forever. As Thomas is the Drummer in the Band 'T5' i wanted to create a character different to what we see during the performance, Meaning Thomas would have to wear completely different clothing and act like a different person. I decided to use Thomas in my Music Video as i wanted to give the feeling like the Band is the Guy who predicts their future to be a complete disaster but when they're in a mind of their own, the world is their oyster, making the impossible happen. Even though Georgia couldn't be with us to film part of the narrative we were still able to make good progress with the Music Video. The Performance is complete and all the shots in the shoot were captured correctly corresponding to the Story Board i created 3 weeks prior to the shoot, and the beginning and ending of the narrative are now complete. The only things i need to film are (The Dream Sequence 'Using the Set at QEMS' and The Shots around Tamworth for the Second Verse, Chorus and Bridge in the Song).

The shoot took a total of 20 minutes to film due to its simplicity, We only used one camera 'Canon EOS 500D DLSR' which was placed on a Tripod with an attachable dolly. Their were a few Shots which i wasn't particularly happy with so i shot them a number of times to try and get the best shot possible. At the end of the Shoot we had to transport the Drum Kit back over to QEMS as they
needed it for the Drum Lessons, However after we moved the Kit back over Matt Johnson and I started to Design and Finish the Lighting used in the Dream Sequence. We have save a total of 3 Presets which correspond to the Actors movements in the scene. For example, At the start of the dream the character is sitting on a chair in a spotlight on an empty stage, he turns his head to look out at the audience floor to see a Girl standing in a spotlight. We designed the lights so that a Spotlight is visable on the stage while he's sitting in the chair with Red Lighting surrounding him to create the feeling like he's in his head which is surrounded by darkness and the only way to see past the dark is if he steps into the lighter side of his life. We were able to place a spotlight on the Audience floor where Georgia will be standing (Due to the characters not being there when designing the lighting we will adjust the lighting positioning once the characters are ready to film on the day of the next shoot) In the second part of the Dream Sequence we see Georgia and Thomas walk towards each other with Spotlights following them, we were able to create a tracking spotlight with a motion time of 8 seconds which allows the lights to move slowly at a pace where by Georgia and Thomas can walk towards each other without having to rush.

When Filming the Beginning Narrative I was able to create some really nice looking focus shots which focused more on the character than the background, i did this by placing the tripod in a certain position and auto focusing on the character before acting the scene, I did this at the beginning where the character runs through the Hall Doors to find he's missed the Performance, This makes the character stand out above anything which is what i originally intended

I plan to film the next shoot This Friday coming '9th October 2015' at 8.30 - 9.30 meaning we have a whole hours filming time. The reason why the shoot is planned shorter than the Performance shoot is because all we need to do is activate the Lighting System and place a chair on the stage in the place marked 'X' to pin point the spotlight positioning.
